DEFINITION:
The outpatient chemotherapy RN utilizes advanced assessment skills to care for acute and critically ill adult and geriatric patients. Nurse will be required to follow complex protocols, perform critical thinking, have knowledge of the principles of chemotherapy/biotherapy and management of side effects including life threatening complications of treatments while working within their scope of practice.
Compensation:
REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE):
- Authorized to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Oklahoma.
- Current Basic Life Support.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Maintain ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy provider card preferred.
- Membership in the ONS (oncology nursing society)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSN is preferred.
- OCN certification is preferred upon hire and recommended within two years of hire.
- Preferred that the nurse has one year experience as an RN, but not required.
- Nurse will work in the Infusion Center administering chemotherapy and assist the Triage Nurse and other duties in the clinic as needed.
- To work in the Infusion Room, chemotherapy provider status must be obtained from ONS within 12 weeks of hire.
- Proficiency with an electronic medical record and computer skills are required.
